Merit-Based Selection for Yoga Teacher/Yoga Instructor Vacancy (Category
Wise: General/Unreserved, OBC, EWS, and SC/ST)
In India, the selection of yoga teachers or instructors based on merit often includes
a category-wise approach that adheres to government reservation policies while
emphasizing high standards of yoga teaching. This ensures that the process is fair
and inclusive, providing opportunities across various categories—SC/ST, OBC, EWS,
and General/Unreserved—while maintaining quality in wellness instruction.
  2. Eligibility and Merit Criteria
Candidates across all categories must meet essential qualifications, such as:
A recognized certification or diploma in yoga.
    Training from accredited institutions.
Additional specialization, such as therapeutic, prenatal, or children’s yoga, is
    often advantageous.
Merit criteria are uniform across categories, focusing on the candidate’s academic
qualifications, certifications, professional experience, and teaching capabilities.
These baseline standards ensure all candidates meet the quality requirements of the
    position.
  3. Category-Wise Reservation and Merit Evaluation
    SC/ST (Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe)
Candidates in the SC/ST category benefit from reserved seats, age relaxations, and
often fee waivers. The merit ranking within this category is based on a slightly
adjusted cut-off to support inclusivity without compromising quality. Candidates are
assessed on qualifications and experience, and sometimes additional weightage is
provided to encourage participation from SC/ST candidates.
    OBC (Other Backward Classes)
For OBC candidates, reservations are provided along with benefits such as age
relaxation for those under the non-creamy layer. This group is evaluated on a
separate merit list, where the focus is on a balanced combination of academic

    excellence and experience.

Candidates across all categories may undergo a practical examination that assesses
their understanding of yoga philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodologies, and
practical skills. A practical skill test or demonstration typically follows, where
candidates show their ability to conduct yoga sessions, adjust postures, and engage
with students. Each category has specific cut-off criteria, aligning with reservation
    policies while maintaining quality benchmarks.

OBC, EWS, and General—ensuring transparent selection aligned with government
    guidelines.
